Musings of bear and cub

Welcome!

To be honest we kinda set up the blog earlier this year and then proceeded to forget all about it, what with the many stresses of life. This was initially meant to be a photo blog ala Tumblr (ie. the risque side of it), but somehow that never came to fruition. I have no idea where things will go from here, so I guess we will let imagination and creativity take the lead.

First things first; introductions.

Cub is younger and Malaysian. Bear is older and Kiwi. Typical intergenerational couple, with a few kinks thrown in the mix. We met on an app back in 2015, drawn together by a love for Lego and frustration at the country we live in. Throw in a mutual fascination with each other's cultures (and bodies) and it was a match made over clashes, cuddles, and daily Whatsapp messages.

Of course, no relationships are easy. Along the way we have discovered more than our fair share of differences, including but not limited to:

1. Cub loves planning, scheduling activities and places to visit weeks and even months ahead. Bear prefers spontaneity, due to possible last-minute work commitments.

2. Bear can be somewhat racist, whereas cub spends his days challenging discrimination and promoting equality.

3. In a graphical spectrum on work-life balance, our pictures can each be found at the very edges; cub on the life end, and bear on the work end.

However, despite these, we have persevered. Making compromises and rules and promises along the way, gradually learning to cope with each other's quirks (and trust me, we have many). We challenge one another to be better people; to face our fears, to learn patience, and to love. We saw bare bears; we built cities; we spent three weeks 8,891 kilometres apart; we journeyed to new places; all within the first year of our life together.

Who knows what the rest will bring? I guess we will find out; together. :-)
